Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry has confirmed that the United States embassy in Riyadh was attacked by two drones, according to initial assessments.
In a statement published on Platform X, the ministry announced that the attack caused a limited fire and minor material damage to the building.
Meanwhile, the US Mission to Saudi Arabia has issued a shelter-in-place notice for the cities of Jeddah, Riyadh and Dhahran. It also announced that non-essential travel to military installations in the region will be restricted.
Trump told NewsNation that the US will respond “soon” to the attack on the embassy and the deaths of American personnel. Six people have been killed so far, while 18 have been injured.
